This 8-hour course will be held over four 2-hour sessions:

  • Thursday, October 15: 9-11 AM and 1-3 PM
  • Friday, October 16: 9-11 AM and 1-3 PM

Participants should plan to attend all four sessions.

Who Should Attend: PPTA members with little to no Microsoft Excel experience, or those who wish to review the building blocks of Excel.

The session will review the following topics:

    • Basics: Tour of the interface, Worksheets and workbooks
    • Copying and Pasting: Paste Special
    • Viewing: Freezing, Splitting, Additional window, Zooming
    • Formatting: 
    • Workbook level: Inserting/Deleting worksheets, Moving sheets within workbook
    • Worksheet level: Inserting and deleting rows and columns, Clearing cells, Format painter, Formatting cells for data entry (dollars, decimals, %'s, dates, text), Merging cells, Page layout, Tables, Naming ranges, Undo
    • Page Setup & Printing: Print area, Printing/Print Preview
    • Sorting: Sort A to Z / Z to A, Custom Sort
    • Filtering: Allows Sorting, Filter by value
    • Finding / Go To / Finding Special
    • Filling (Auto Fill): Autofill numbers, days of the week, month, Alphabet
    • Intro to formulas: Sum, subtract, average, multiply, divide, refer to another cell
    • Naming cells & Ranges
    • Using Help: Context sensitive, search box, google

Cost: No charge. PennTRAIN has worked with PennDOT to waive registration fees for PennTRAIN courses through December 31, 2020.
