Vehicle Maintenance Management and Inspection (VMMI)

Two-Day Class, June 10 - 11  , 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. - Includes breaks for lunch

The Vehicle Maintenance Management and Inspection (VMMI) training program promotes the community transportation industry’s commitment to safe, reliable transportation through building up the professional skills of maintenance personnel and managers. This certification is designed to improve the maintenance oversight of fleets of smaller transit vehicles (ie., less that 30 foot length).

NOTE: To receive your certification, you must have a camera and audio available for this course. 


Day One:

10:30am  - 12 Noon

Fleet Management 

  • PM Program design and development
  • Cost Control

12:30 – 4:00pm


  • Extending your bus tire life
  • Just-in-time parts purchasing
  • Smart decisions with fuels, lubrication, and chemicals

Day Two:

10:00am – 12:00 Noon

Fleet Administration

  • Working with your warranties
  • Working with bus manufacturers and dealerships
  • Avoiding involvements with lawsuits

1:00pm – 4:00pm

Shop Safety & Regulations

  • Maintenance shop safety planning (SMS)
  • Federal & state compliance for buses, including inspection, ADA, and records

CANCELLATION POLICY: This class is being offered free to members, but there is still a cost to PPTA. To be good stewards of the tax payer's dollar, we ask that you cancel no less than seven days prior to the class in order to find a replacement. If you cancel within the seven day period, a fee will be assessed and invoiced to your organization.
